What we believe about Jesus

Who?

Christians believe, that Jesus is God's unique, eternal Son, who became fully human, yet was fully divine. He is one with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, the triune Godhead of the Christian faith. The mystery of the Holy Trinity is that there is one God, in three persons.

What?

Christians believe that Jesus came willingly from God the Father to be the Saviour of the world. Through his life, death and resurrection, he revealed and made possible the way for humanity to be reconciled to God the creator, a relationship broken through the reality of sin, evil and human pride, arrogance and rebellion. We believe that Jesus was risen from death and later ascended to heaven, to the right hand of God the Father, a place of authority and majesty. Yet in the mystery of his divinity, Jesus is also present amongst his people here and now through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Why?

Because the God of the Christian faith is the God of love, the one, true God who created, cares for and loves all. Jesus, as God's heavenly ambassador on earth revealed this in his life and ministry. And in willingly dying on the cross, he revealed the full extent of God's love and compassion for wayward humanity – dying in our place, that we might come to know him and receive true, eternal life, our created destiny.
